I AM FINE, HOW ARE YOU

Solo exhibition by Krystian Filip

December 2 – December 29, 2022

Opening: Friday, December 2 at 7 p.m.

I am Fine, How are You by Krystian Filip featuring paintings and sculptures. It concludes his year-long residency program at

Scope BLN.

Krystian Filip ’s works depict subjective and emotional perspectives on people, places, and the environment. His artistic practice focuses primarily on the expression of personal, intimate feelings that are transferred into a broader psychological context. By using a canvas as a personal journal, he creates paintings that blur the border between figurative and abstract images. Radical process of defiguration becomes a direct metaphor of his sense of personal weaknesses.

I am Fine, How are You reflects on the borders of modern nostalgia and melancholy. The constant oscillation between private experience and the “public outcome” becomes a celebration of an artistic process itself. The ruthlessness of his works revels high level of utopian energy which is continuously testing self-concentrated modern culture.
Formally speaking “I am fine, How are you" is an adoration of unspoken thoughts. Working with short sentences from past dialogs, random street tags which at the first glance seem to be trivial, suddenly occur in a new social perspective.
