Qihao Liang and Tong Shu are a creative duo named Barcode People based in Naarm/ Melbourne, focusing on incorporating performance arts across digital visuals and installations. Their philosophy is to create a realm through artistic expression for spectators to re-approach and redefine the essences of becoming and being. The goal is to alienate familiarity in a familiar experience.
We desire. Therefore, we queue.
Into the Queue, a multi-media performance created by Barcode People, invites you to join the queue of four players who chase "Windows" as their center of existence. Each "window" represents more than a clickbait but a more fundamental humanistic desire. With ritualistic forms of queuing, AI voice dialogues, and video art installations, 4 players and the audiences are bound for a new life cycle experience in 60 minutes. A beginning as an end, an end as a beginning.
The project mainly explores human behaviors in persuading particular desires and the metaphysical nature of the desires. By providing a post-reality experience, Barcode People hope to redefine humanism in a mix of digital and physical realities and explore the fluidity of becoming in the context of desire in the sense of togetherness.
Duration: 60 minutes
