Pawel Reczek
Gnaga, 2025, 100x70cm, charcoal, oil, acrylic on paper
Pawel Reczek is a Polish artist working with performance, drawing, and painting. His background in theatre and performance reconnects him with his studio practice, where he uses his body and experience to reinvent his queer identity.
He employs theatrical techniques and exercises to generate drawings through a protocol of breathing, stretching, and improvising, leaving traces of each action on paper. The drawings emerge from gestures and body prints, while still questioning the importance of documentation versus the performance itself.
His work explores creation through the search for an alter ego-one that shifts between actor and star. These works reimagine unlived lives and investigate self-making techniques and the concept of selfhood.
